First day of school

The kids had their first day of school yesterday and all went well! I picked them up from school and when asked how his first day of school went, Aquiles responded with, "Awesome". He really enjoys school and stated that his teacher is very nice. Amazingly, Alicia also had a great day. She is very shy and we thought Kinder would terrify her. She was excited about going and even packed her lunch Saturday afternoon (she took a different lunch). She likes her teacher and said she understood what the teacher wanted because she used gestures. She learned some new words, mochila (backpack) and cientate (sit down); she is very proud. Aquiles' kindergarten teacher is Alicia's English teacher and that made Alicia very happpy because she likes Mrs. Bernal. Alicia's teacher is Mrs. Gutierrez and she is very nice and professional. I think we are going to have a great year!

Yesterday we really caught Aquiles off guard by throwing him a surprise birthday party. His actual bday is still a month away. He spent the night with Scott and Kandi. The kids thought we were having a barbeque so they weren't surprised when they drove up and saw all the cars. Special thanks to Scott and Kandi; there was no way we could have pulled it off without their help. Sorry the video is short but the the batteries died right away!

Bama vacation

We just got back from a short vacation to AL. We stayed a few days at my mom's where the kids played checkers and swam. We saw more friends and family also. Then we headed down to Deb and Don's condo at the beach and took the boat and jet ski out for the day. The kids had a great time! On Sunday Don and Jamie took the kids 5 miles out into the Gulf to go fishing. Aquiles was terrified after having watched Shark Week on television. He says his worst fear is the 10 most deadliest sharks of which he can name all. Maybe shark week wasn't such a great idea! Anyway, we finished the vacation off with a shrimp boil. YUM! That's it for vacation; now it is time to get back to work and prepare for Carmen.

home grown carrot!

Alicia grew this carrot from seed and she is very proud. We could have let it grow longer, but we were so excited to pick it and see our first garden result. Delicious!

Another vacation

Jamie, the kids, and I will be heading to AL Tuesday. We will spend a few days with my mom and then a few days with Deb and Don at the beach.

This weekend we had Ed and Anne over for dinner and heard all about their trip to Paris! I was quite envious and can't wait to take kids to France next summer.

School starts soon so wish us all luck. I just finished teaching VBS this week, and it kicked my butt! I need to find some energy somewhere!
